Stop Shockwave Flash crashing in Google Chrome If there is no alternative and you really have to enable Flash and use it on a web page, here's what you can do to try and fix it. Oct 15, 2014 - Note to MacOS users: We intend to deprecate 32bit OSX bundles. Update Firefox to 31.2.0esr; Udate fteproxy to 0.2.19; Update Tor to. AdBlock and AdBlock Plus crashing on Chrome (v 8.0.552.237), Windows XP. Hope me!I've been running AdBlock for a while without any problems. It started hanging and crashing, which chrome handles by popping up 'crash bars' on every open window. So I installed AdBlock Plus which is also crashing.
My questions are:
How do I uninstall a disabled extension? Once disabled, it doesn't list in the chrome extensions window so I don't have an uninstall link anywhere. I really don't want two extensions doing the same thing.
Which of the numerous ad block extension for chrome is king of the hill?
What might be causing the crash? How can I figure it out? The crash happens immediately on browser start-up.
It should show in the Extensions window (Wrench > Tools > Extensions, although this might not be the exact same place in my version as yours, since I'm in the beta channel). It'll be greyed out in that window, and an Enable and Uninstall link below it. Also, go to Wrench > About Google Chrome and make sure it doesn't want to do any Chrome updates.
I use AdBlockPlus, but I used to use AdBlock. I like ABP a little better.

It's not in the extensions window. I've looked and looked. chrome://extensions/ shows no disable extensions but they show crash bars every time I restart the browser.

How very odd. How many other extensions do you have installed? What I'm thinking you might want to do is to go into the Google Chrome folder and manually remove the extensions folders and/or all of the extensions and see if that clears it up.
C:Documents and SettingsUSERNAMELocal SettingsApplication DataGoogleChromeUser DataDefaultExtensions should be where things are (change USERNAME to whatever the username is on your computer). If you can determine which ones are AdBlock and AdBlockPlus (PROBABLY gighmmpiobklfepjocnamgkkbiglidom and cfhdojbkjhnklbpkdaibdccddilifddb, respectively), delete those two folders, and that should remove those two extensions.

What I did was a full uninstall of Chrome followed by a spiteful purging of the Application DataGoogleChrome folder. Based on what I saw during the uninstall, I'm pretty sure the Google Crash Handler was wedged and not cleaning up properly from earlier crashes. So next time, I'll be killing that before I do anything.

How very interesting. Fair enough way to go about it.

Try uninstalling/reinstalling Chrome.
Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. Also try the Safe Mode.
Safe Mode Startup – El Capitan. also Sierra
If it works in the Safe Mode, try running this program when booted normally and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor. Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown.
